Winter Camping Destinations for People Who HATE the Cold

If you are looking to escape winter this year, then check out these five places you can go camping this winter!

1. Fort Wilderness Campground, Disney World, Orlando FL

This campground is located at the most magical place on earth! If you have kiddos and have been thinking of going, there is no better time than winter. The temperature and humidity combination is manageable, hurricane season is over, and the holiday decorations give it some extra magic. This is also one of the cheapest options to stay on the Disney property if you are looking to go on a budget. With complimentary transportation to all the parks and Disney Springs from the campground, it is definitely worth taking a look!

2. Twentynine Palms RV Resort, Twentynine Palms CA

This campground markets itself as "the gateway to Joshua Tree National Park and 29 Palms Marine Base". They offers the amenities of a pool/spa facility, a fitness center, a clubhouse and close proximity to a golf course. It is especially popular for retirees and snowbirds. During winter months, enjoy Wednesday Evening Happy Hour & BBQ,  Saturday Evening Dinners with live music, and more! This campground offers both short term and long term availability so if you are truly looking to escape winter all together this may be the place for you!

3.  Fiesta Key RV Resort & Marina, Fiesta Key FL

Owned and operated by Encore RV Resorts, this campground has all a ocean lover would need! Close proximity to the ocean (within 10 miles of the beach), an onsite marina, food, spa, private swimming area offering both ocean and pool access, and much more! They also offer a number of seasonal activities such as ocean snorkeling, dog run, sporting events, and scheduled entertainment. Their website suggests a few sight seeing destinations as well including the Dolphin Research Center and Bud 'N' Mary's World Famous Fishing Marina! 

4. KOA At Alamogordo, White Sands NM

If you like the comfort of staying at a campground operated by a familiar name, then you can't go wrong with the KOA. This campground is located near White Sand National Park, the New Mexico Museum of Space History, Alameda Park Zoo, and Eagle Ranch the Heart of the Desert Pistachios & Wine. They also offer seasonal activities and events such as the Luminaria Walk on December 24th. With something for everyone this is the perfect winter camping spot for couples, families, or a group of friends looking to escape the cold.

5.  La Penita RV Resort, La Penita De Jaltemba Mexico 

If you are really looking to escape the cold, then consider heading south of the border this year. This park is home to many RV'ers who have been coming to wait out the winter months for over twenty years! The campground opens November 1st and closes April 3oth each year. Located on a hill overlooking the ocean, you will truly be in paradise. This RV park also offers groups activities and events for the residents such as themed dance nights, game nights, and grill outs. Only 40 miles north of Puerto Vallarta, this is perfect spot if you are looking to have an adventure this winter.
