Enter if You Dare... the Seven Most Haunted Campgrounds in America (Supposedly)

Oct. 14 2021 Themed Roadtrips By I-29 RV Supercenter

You know who you are, you love all things scary and freaky. While most people stay away or do their best to avoid these places, you seek them out. If this describes you, we have your next RV trip planned, read on for the seven most haunted RV parks in America.

Fort Worden State Park, WA

This military base turned campground has a long history including serving as a jail, a treatment facility for troubled youth, and still has a onsite military cemetery! Surround by the dense, foggy forest of Washington, campers and hikers alike claim to feel as if they are being watched. Some say they have heard moans and smelled burning coal, rubber, and sulfur coming from the main house. Can you imagine staying here?

Lake Morena, CA

Lake Morena County Park sits 42 miles east of San Diego, described as a border city. While the scenery is picturesque the history is not so, in 1916 the Morena Reservoir flooded killing more than 50 people. There have been reports of a young lady wear a white dress wandering the woods, cold and eerie presences, unexplained footsteps, and levitating bodies.

Holy Ghost Campground, NM

Oh New Mexico, they always seem to have a story or two in this genre. This campground is located just outside of Santa Fe in the small town of Tererro. The ghost may not even be the scariest part, to get here campers must travel down a narrow road that eventually requires turning off for a two-mile drive down Forest Service Road 122. The history here is somewhat a debate, involving a fight between a priest and the Puebloans. Reports have surfaced recently of unexplained car accidents, fights, and even state troopers disappearing. Let alone the paranormal, are you brave enough to attempt the travel route?

Antietam Creek Campground, MD

Located just miles from the site where 23,000 soldiers died during the Civil War, this campground is no-frills and only the bravest stay here. Sorry RVs you will not be able to come to this one, campers must park and walk their supplies to their sites. Campers claim to have seen ghosts and heard guns, cannons, and drummer boys. If this is not enough of a challenge, nearby you can find Bloody Lane, Burnside Bridge, and the Antietam National Cemetery. The perfect destination for a true ghost camping adventure.

The Canyon Motel & RV Park, AZ

This campsite is located along Route 66 in northern Arizona, and don't worry RVs are welcome here with 47 pull-through and back-in sites equipped with water and electricity. Here guests have reported hearing strange noises and seeing objects moving in unexplainable ways. If you want the ultimate paranormal experience, the campground contains a haunted train car that guests can book to stay in.

Braley Pond, VA

Okay, we would recommend only the experienced paranormal campers for this one. This camping site is known in the professional and amateur ghost hunter community as one of the most haunted places in the United States. Campers report hearing laughter, seeing hovering spirits, and experiencing personality changes. Many say they are unable to make it through the night here and experience vivid nightmares for weeks after. Again, this place should maybe be left to people who consider themselves paranormal professionals and not considered a fun Halloween destination.

Carl G Washburne Memorial State Park, OR

Our last campground is located in the town of Florence near the coast. While some have reported angry ghosts, the main attraction here is Rue, a former caretaker of the grounds and lighthouse. Guests have claimed to see her sit down on the bed and moving items in rooms. Workers have even reported seeing her, offering to help them work on their tasks. If you are brave enough, you can request to camp right on the beach down from the lighthouse where sightings are most prevalent.

There you have it, the seven most haunted campgrounds in America (supposedly). Are you brave enough to check out these spots or does a good Halloween movie satisfy your spooky season mood (I already have mine picked).

As always happy camping,
